The following exception might be thrown when accessing the File->Open menu within SAS^® Web OLAP Viewer for Java:

  java.lang.NullPointerException
  at com.sas.swing.models.remotefileselector2.
     informationservices.InformationServicesFileMetadata.getOwner(
     InformationServicesFileMetadata.java:131)

This problem is caused by incorrect metadata in one of the information maps stored in the following location:

To correct this problem, you can use SAS^® Management Console to create a fresh copy of the maps with the following steps:

1. Open SAS Management Console.
2. Expand the BI Manager Plug-in.
3. Highlight the following folder: BIP Tree/ReportStudio/Maps
4. Right-click on Maps and select "New Folder". Give the folder a name such as temp and click Finish.
5. Highlight Maps and select all the maps contained in that folder.
6. Copy the maps to the temp folder. To do this, you can right-click on the highlighted maps and select copy. Select the new folder created in step 4 and select paste.
7. Verify the maps were copied to the new folder. Then highlight the maps in the Maps folder and delete them.
8. Copy the maps from the temp folder back into the Maps folder.
9. Verify the maps exist again in the Maps folder and then delete the temp folder created in step 4.

After following these steps, log on to SAS Web OLAP Viewer and verify that the File -> Open menu works properly.
